Bible Q&A

I stumbled upon your website, and found a sermon that was displayed on the Deity of Jesus Christ. I appreciate the message and outline, it was well said. I believe Jesus is more than just divinity, but in truth He is Deity. I am really interested in how you guys Baptize. I read that you do immerse, but do you baptize in the Name of the Father, Son, Holy Ghost or in the Name of Jesus? To me this truth is so very special, the revelation of the Name of Jesus and how we are buried with 'Him' in baptism. I hope to hear from you soon, and thank you for proclaiming the Deity of Jesus Christ.

Thanks for the question.
And thanks for the response to the sermon.

Yes we take our example from the scriptures and so we immerse anyone who believes in Christ for the remission (forgiveness) of their sins. (See Acts chapter 2 verse 38) Jesus tells us to do this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-20) I think Peter said to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ because he was speaking to Jews who already knew that Jehovah was God their father and just needed to associate this immersion with Jesus as the Messiah.

The word Baptize is a Greek word that means to dip, plunge, or immerse. When we are buried with Christ by immersion into His death, that is where our souls come into contact with His blood, as it were, to wash away our sins. Look at Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:12-13 and Acts 22:16 for the truth of this.

There are many churches today who do not baptize for the remission of sins. But we need to be following the Bible instead. Right?

May God bless you in your study and lead you to a rich understanding of His will and purpose for your life. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards
